WCW Monday Nitro: October 2, 1995

We are live from Denver, Colorado for the best one hour wrestling in the world. What a night ahead of us with a double main event with Randy Savage taking on Lex Luger with Luger leaving WCW if he loses and the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair taking on his former best friend Arn Anderson.

Flair comes to the broadcast booth to tell us he's taking on Anderson later tonight. WOOOOO!! The last couple of weeks on WCW Saturday Night, Flair has asked and even begged Sting to team up with him to take on Arn and Brian Pillman and Sting repeatedly tells him no and says he doesn't trust him for good reasons saying he's trusted him before only to be betrayed.

We kick off tonight's Nitro with one of the main events with Savage taking on Luger. As the match is going back-and-forth, Eric Bischoff tells us that Hulk Hogan is on his way to the arena to address his "Hulkamaniacs." Savage accidentally sends Luger into referee Randy Anderson, knocking him out.

Savage scoop slams Luger and hits him with the Flying Elbow Drop. But there's no referee to make the count. Savage goes and wakes up Anderson as The Giant enters the ring. He Chokeslams Savage and does not even lay a finger on Luger as he leaves. Luger picks up an unconscious Savage and puts Savage in the Torture Rack as the referee gets up and calls for the bell. Luger wins and won't have to leave WCW.

Next up is Dean Malenko taking on Eddie Guerrero in Malenko's WCW Nitro debut. Disco interrupts Guerrero's entrance to the ring by dancing to his own music when its supposed to be Guerrero coming out.

Before the match starts, they show us a clip of Guerrero defeating Jushin "Thunder" Liger with the Frog Splash on the Main Event last night. In the middle of a thrilling match between these two WCW newcomers and former ECW members who had great matches there, they show Hulk Hogan entering the arena in a limo.

Back to this match, Guerrero nails Malenko with a brain buster and goes for the Frog Splash off the top rope, but Malenko gets the knees up. After switching waist locks, Guerrero reverses Malenko's roll up into his own for the 1-2-3 in what was a truly thrilling match. Malenko demands a rematch which Guerrero gladly will provide and the two shake hands.

This past weekend on WCW Saturday Night, Johnny B. Badd was supposed to take on Sting for the U.S. Championship following his win against Brian Pillman at Fall Brawl. The week before on Saturday Night, Badd was confronted by WCW TV Champion Diamond Dallas Page saying he was the No. 1 contender to Sting's U.S. Title.

Badd did not show up for his scheduled match against Sting last weekend. Pillman instead took Badd's place and Sting beat Pillman to retain the title. Badd finally showed up at the end of the program saying he had a flat tire. Maxx Muscle made fun of his four flat tires. Badd realized Page was behind this and knocked Page out.

We come back from commercials as Mean Gene Okerlund introduces Hulk Hogan to the ring for their interview. Hogan comes down to the ring wearing the neck brace as Jimmy Hart is with him. Hogan talks about a Hulkamaniac named Jason who needs a double lung transplant. Jason tells Hogan to put down The Giant for good as Hogan vows to do just that.

As Hogan leaves following his interview, Hogan is shown outside the ring high-fiving several fans. All of a sudden, an old lady throws white powder in Hogan's eyes as it turns out its Kevin Sullivan in old lady drag as he beats both Hogan and Hart with a cane.

The Giant and Zodiac come down to the ring and grabs Hogan, rips off his neck brace, and twists his neck just like he did at Fall Brawl. Hogan is down and out as Sullivan takes out some clippers and shaves off Hogan's signature mustache.

The American Males and The Nasty Boys run out to help, but they are all Chokeslammed by The Giant. The American Males and The Nastys were supposed to have a World Tag Team Title match, but that's not happening now.

Now its time for the second main event as Ric Flair takes on Arn Anderson in a rematch from Fall Brawl. This match is exiting as its back-and-forth just like their classic match a few weeks ago at the PPV. Anderson gives Flair a spine buster for a two-count. Flair blocks a DDT attempt by holding onto the top rope.

Flair nails Anderson with punches to the head and his patented chops. Anderson tries a double ax handle off the second rope, only to be met by a chop by Flair. Flair puts Anderson in the Figure Four. Brian Pillman comes out and splashes Flair off the top rope, getting Anderson DQ'd. Anderson and Pillman double-team Flair, leaving him lying in the middle of the ring.

Next week on Monday Nitro: Flair gets a chance at revenge on Anderson as they will square off in a Steel Cage match. Sting takes on Shark. Sabu returns as he faces Mr. JL. Road Warrior Hawk returns from his broken arm he suffered at the Clash of the Champions two months ago as he takes on Big Bubba Rogers.
