Vince McMahon called a meeting with all WWF personnel to announce that he was stepping down as head booker of WWF to focus his time on being a corporate executive. He officially announced Bill Watts as his replacement as head booker. McMahon announced he signed Texas independent wrestler Tony Norris under the name "Ahmed Johnson" and said he will give him a major push due to the lack of an African American babyface.
McMahon also hinted at putting the WWF World Heavyweight Championship on Bret Hart. McMahon also announced that the WWF will not be so cartoony and gimmicky and start to lean a little towards real-life stories and will feature clips of the taped upcoming episodes of RAW to facilitate a "soap opera-like atmosphere." McMahon and Watts ripped WCW but did say there were several wrestlers they would like to work with.
