WWF Monday Night Raw: January 8, 1996

On tonight's episode of RAW, Shawn Michaels will announce whether he will be wrestling again or retiring. Also, we will check on Billionaire Ted to see if he is ripping off the WWF again. Vince McMahon also says tonight we will the WWF Championship match between Bret Hart and The British Bulldog at In Your House 5 last month.

Plus "Scheme Gene" will be here as well all this and more tonight on Monday Night Raw. There is a brand new intro to RAW as we start a new year. Our hosts are McMahon and Jerry Lawler.

First match is Jeff Jarrett vs. Hakushi. We go back to In Your House 5 on December 17 when Jarrett returned to the WWF and attacked Ahmed Johnson with his golden record that he got from Lawler. Jarrett will take on Johnson at the Royal Rumble.

Hakushi nails Jarrett early on with a springboard shoulderblock as Jarrett heads to the outside. Jarrett then grabs and trips Hakushi. Jarrett puts him in the abdominal stretch while holding the rope for more leverage. Hakushi soon fights back and goes for the Springboard Splash, but Jarrett gets the knees up and puts Hakushi in the Figure Four and Hakushi submits for a Jarrett win.

Jim Ross, replacing Dok Hendrix for the Royal Rumble report, tells us who will be in the Royal Rumble with Vader headlining and the return of Jake "The Snake" Roberts to the WWF for the first time in nearly four years. Scheme Gene tells us the name of an unnamed superstar that will be in the Rumble. He can't tell us now but will tell us later.

Ahmed Johnson makes quick work of a jobber. Jeff Jarrett runs into the ring and tries to hit Johnson with a guitar shot to the head, but misses and Johnson runs Jarrett out of the ring as Jarrett drops the guitar. Johnson then picks up the guitar and smashes it against a ring post.

It's time for the Brother Love Show with his guest the Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase. DiBiase says he's been searching for a year to crown a new Million Dollar Champion and has finally found his man as he unveils his newest champion and WWF newcomer "The Ringmaster." The Ringmaster is actually "Stunning" Steve Austin with a really short haircut. Ringmaster cuts a pretty cool promo as he takes the Million Dollar belt.

Referee Earl Hebner was asked why didn't he stop the WWF Championship match at In Your House between Bret Hart and British Bulldog when Bret was busted wide open. Bret was supposed to and scripted to win the match and retain the title, I mean Hebner says Bret was responding to everything Earl was asking him and he still wanted to win. Check out the match later on RAW.

Goldust easily defeats Aldo Montoya with his lifted inverted DDT called "The Curtain Call."

Jim Ross shows us the Shawn Michaels press conference held earlier today. Due to the concussion he received in the beating he got outside the bar in Syracuse followed by a kick to the head by Owen Hart, doctors told him never to wrestle again. But Shawn will not listen to the doctors as he announces he will enter the Royal Rumble and win it and beat whoever the world champion is at WrestleMania XII.

Scheme Gene tells us who the superstar that is entering the Royal Rumble and it's Vader which we already knew Gene. Why not tell us Shawn Michaels is entering while your at it Scheme?!?!

Diesel, Razor Ramon, and Owen Hart all give their thoughts on Shawn Michaels coming back at the Royal Rumble and they all advise strongly against it. Now it's time for the Bret Hart-British Bulldog classic match at last month's In Your House and you can read the recap on my In Your House 5 page.

We hear from The Undertaker and Paul Bearer as they want the WWF Title back and will get it at the Royal Rumble. Now it's time for the next installment of Billionaire Ted's Wrasslin' War Room. This is where they call The Huckster and The Nacho Man old and come up with "Where the Big Boys play!!" Then they say they won't do any drug testing especially since they aren't in the WWF anymore.

Next week on RAW, The Undertaker takes on Isaac Yankem DDS. Plus Owen Hart takes on Marty Jannetty.
